First Basketball Rules

In the “basketball” game there were only thirteen rules at the beginning:

The ball can be thrown in any direction with one or two hands.
The ball can be hit in any direction with one or two hands.
A player cannot run with the ball, the player must pass the ball from where it catches, for this rule only a player who catches the ball while running at good speed may be allowed.
The ball should be held in or between hands, arms or body should not be used to hold the ball.
It is forbidden to throw, hold, push, open or strike the opponent in any way. The first violation of this rule by any player is considered a foul, in the latter case the player will be disqualified until the next number is reached, or if it is clear that he intends to injure the other player, he will leave the game until the end of the game and will not be substituted.
Punching the ball is in violation of rules 3 and 4 and applies as described in rule 5.
If either party commits three consecutive fouls, it will be counted as one point for the opposing team.
If the ball passes through the basket when it is thrown from the field, the number is counted. The ball remains on the edge of the basket and counts if the opponent touches the ball.
When the ball is out of bounds, it is inserted from outside and the player who touches the ball first plays. In the event of a dispute, the referee will throw the ball into the court. The player who will put the ball into play is allowed for five seconds. If it takes longer to put the ball into play, the ball will pass to the opponent. If any party insists on delaying the game, the referee will foul them.
The 2nd referee will note the fouls and notify the referee when a team commits three fouls.
The referee is the judge of the ball and decides when the ball will enter the game, the limits and the party to which the ball belongs and holds the time. Decides when a number is made and usually keeps an account of the numbers scored along with other tasks performed by an arbitrator.

The first professional league was established in 1898 in the United States. Six teams took part in the National Basketball League. This league was terminated in 1904. Then many small championships were held. On June 6, 1946, the Basketball Association of America (BAA) was founded in New York City. After merging with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949, it became the National Basketball Association (NBA) as we know it today. From the beginning of the 21st century, the NBA is the most important professional basketball league in the world in terms of popularity, salaries, talent and competitiveness.

After his arrival in Europe, basketball developed very quickly. In 1909 the first international match was held in Saint Petersburg: Mayak defeated the YMCA American team in Saint Petersburg. The first major European basketball event was held in 1919 at the Inter-Allied Games in Joinville-le-Pont near Paris. Under the leadership of future Hall of Fame player Max Friedman, he won against the USA, Italy and France, and then Italy defeated France. Basketball quickly became popular among the French and Italians.

World basketball was growing and on June 18, 1932 a real international organization was established to coordinate tournaments and teams. Argentina, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Romania and Switzerland established the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in Geneva. This federation was very important for the first time basketball took part in the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936. The first basketball gold was won by the US national team and Canada was the second.
